This month see Asian teams completed their journey in FIFA World Cup Qualification – Second Round. Total of 57 qualifying matches plus a few friendlies were played between the last ranking release in May until today.
Mongolia is the most improved nation in Asia after their 1-0 victory against Kyrgyz Republic. They went up 7 spots from 192nd to 185th. While nations which its ranking dropped the most is Thailand which fell 16 spots to 122nd.
If we look at the points change, UAE got the most points this month with 32.14 points added to the ranking. On the opposite side, Chinese Taipei is the team lost the most points, with also 32.14 points. What a coincidence that is!
If we look specifically only at the ranking between AFC member associations, there are some changes that occurred. Australia now sit 3rd among Asian teams, up 1 spot. Kuwait and Mongolia both goes up 4 spots to 25th and 38th respectively. While Bangladesh and Chinese Taipei experienced the biggest drop this month, falling 3 spots to 41st and 29th.
This ranking will be used for seeding the teams in the World Cup Qualification – Third Round Draw which will be held on 1 July.
